Kavel Rafferty – ‘Pet Shop’
03/08/24 till 07/07/24
Animals in suits of self-loathing, gimp masks and come-hither eyes…
Kavel Rafferty sources postcards and book pages from flea markets and charity shops, using these to create collages and paintings. By manipulating these images, she reveals new meanings and highlights absurdities in the fetishisation of pets, our anthropomorphic tendencies and the human-animal relationship.
In these works Kavel playfully examines what is hidden and what is revealed.
